Michelle Thompson is a leader whose passion and commitment for health inspired her to run for a seat at the provincial table in 2021. She was first elected to the Nova Scotia House of Assembly as MLA for Antigonish in 2021 and was appointed Minister of Health and Wellness and the minster responsible for the Office of Healthcare professional Recruitment. In 2024 she was also appointed as the minster responsible for healthcare infrastructure redevelopment.
With a career as an RN spanning 32 years, Michelle has held various positions in the healthcare sector, working both on the frontlines as a care provider and in leadership roles. She has worked in critical care, public health, youth health and prior to being elected, she served as CEO of RK MacDonald Nursing Home for 5 years.
A leader, community volunteer, and mother of three, Michelle has been married to Darren for 30 years.
